Sara told me that the wedding jokes with Marth were starting to get stale by now, and I agreed. So I decided it was a good opportunity to end it with some dialogue with best cousin Ange.
BATTLE PLANNING. It was fun to go over the canon map and make up a plan out of it! AND THEN WE KICK CANON TO THE CURB AND BRING IN MINERVA AND PALLA FROM THE GET-GO. THEN WE HAVE JULIAN SAVE MATTHIS. I love the ripples of changes that happens when we shift things around.
Poor Arran. Canon plot isn't kind to him.
And yeah, the ladies of Lykke's group having enough of him and joining Marth's is a fun narrative! With Ange joining them in stopping any reinforcements! Partially because she does enjoy being backup, and partially because I don't want her to steamroll all the bosses of the story. Dual duty!
Lykke mistaking Marth for his sister is funny for different reasons. Mostly because in this time period, Elice is a spell caster and could probably cause as much damage as Marth's rapier with a tome. Slightly because Marth wearing a circlet is like, supposed to be known all over the continent by now. Also, don't piss off Marth and talk shit about Ange. They're protective of each other. And yes, Palla getting the killing blow was planned.
This whole sequence with Lamia was AWESOME to write. Because she has to deal with a group of people who were bonded by the War of Shadows, who care about each other, who's loyalty to each other stems not from a blind, rigorous fanaticism, but from trust, friendship and reason. Honestly, all the chapters with her shows how incompetent she is compared to Lang, and how much she contrast to our main characters. She's fun to hate.
