you can change your destiny
Chapter 4's title comes from "Open Your Heart" from the 'Errors Of Our Youth' Persona 2 album
FUCK YEAH PERSONA 2 MUSIC IS ALWAYS AWESOME. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE LYRICS.
Maia and Ange chats about Marth being an amazing future king and about what Katarina actually could be. Also a nod to Elemental Lords because I'll forever be a fan of the series.
And here we're going into something canon alluded to, but never seen! Cecil having problems with her Platoon. And honestly, this was actually fun to write, seeing Marth and Ange's more serious side. Inverting Tall Poppy Syndrome was interesting from a story point of view- in this situation, knighthood is taken seriously, so of course Cecil gets backed by Marth, Ange and Jagen. That being said, as mentioned by Maia, Marth doesn't intend to leave those who doesn't succeed knighthood in the lurch. Marth cares for his subjects, after all.
And our first introduction to the other assassins! I really wanted Legion to adore the natural creepiness of Altea. It seemed like something he would be into.
Next we have the future brothers-in-law talking! Marth and Merric are awesome friends, and I love writing dialogue with those two. That they're both voiced by Yuri Lowenthal is a hilarious bonus, too.
Then we get into another canon scene that had to be modified for the series! I adore the contrast of Marth's dialogue and Katarina's thoughts, it really gets into the meat of this story's theme.
