Losing My Religion, the FST.
Feb. 10th, 2026 09:45 pmCurrently NOT in order, just songs that I think fits the story atm.
Losing My Religion (Hildegard von Blingin' cover)
Okay, so I may have used the original for that one FST I did for Shu, but it gets a different context with a medieval style and Robin... which is why I titled the story so. It's Robin saying "screw destiny" about the fate that awaited him in canon Awakening- becoming Grima's vessel- but he follows this path different in LMR... especially once he loses Emmeryn. This cover offers a lovely singing contrast not found in the original as well, that colors how Robin sees himself- the him before the amnesia, and the him after.
run!- Save The World
...Who does this apply to? I first thought this applied to pre-amnesia Robin and his decision of leaving the safety of Jugdral to find Ylisse, but the lyrics points more to Robin-mama, whom I name Astrape, so it could be either or. It's a banger short song, is what it is, and I'll fit it into any FST I can.
Papaoutai- Stromae
...Okay, so there's an MMD of Robin dancing to the Pentatonix cover, but I'm taking the original because that's the version I'm used to. ...How many FST can I put this song in?! Is it because shitty and/or absent dads are common amongst my favorite characters? What the hell? Well, it works, not just for Robin, but for Chrom, too.
Salt- Eivør (English Version)
You get two for the price of one! While the original works VERY well for Robin being raised in Jugdral (and therefor associated with Norse-based languages), the lyrics for the English version also fits pretty well. Which Robin is which? I'm not telling. :3 (Also could work with Ange, what with her being a Sea Dragon and all.)
NFWMB- Hozier
I've got a LOT of ships that can use this song, and Robin/Tiki is no exception. Someone on Tumblr made a variant of this song that makes you feel like you can hear someone's breathing and heartbeat while listening to the song at the edge of a forest, and it feels like the official version for my ships. XP
Human- Sevdaliza
Another song I'm tempted to put into many FSTs is this one, and it works well for Robin not wanting to be Grima's vessel- he's just a human being. I also love the eeriness of this song, fits well with Id (Dilemma and Darkness) as a contrast.
Bloody Destiny- Persona 1 Remake
When the random lyrics aptly works in a situation, you're damn sure I'm gonna put it in- and Bloody Destiny works for Robin when it comes to Grima, and subverting the dragon's hold on him. Also a nod to his premonition, even.
The Mummer's Dance- Loreena McKennitt
I gave two variations because I genuinely love this song. Anyway! This is perfect for pre!amnesia Robin, when he was part of the Maera Caravan in Jugdral. Nomadic in nature, they would often have spring festivities amongst the locals, of which Robin and his family would join in. Post!amnesia Robin will remember some of the dances as time goes on.
Holding Out For A Hero- ReN (Lyrics)
Remember when I said that Robin sees himself split into two- his pre-amnesia self and his post-amnesia self? Welp, this is post-amnesia Robin perceiving his pre-amnesia self as his lost hero, because FUCK YEAH SELF-LOVE IS IN THIS HOUSE. He wants be be done with his self-doubts, and if it means following his Valmese bloodline and accept himself as a child of Duma, then he shall do so.
Once Upon A December- Liz Calloway (Hildegard von Blingin' cover)
I added the cover because it works on the music style, but I LOVE THE ORIGINAL. I have watched Anastasia I don't know how many times, and I don't know how may times I listened to that soundtrack... Yet this song, being the yearning of lost memories being on the tip of your recollections? UGH, it just HAD to be in here for Robin.
Something About Us- Daft Punk
It's me, Daft Punk is inevitable in an FST if a song works, and this song. This. Song. Robin realizing belatedly, after Emmeryn's death, that he had a crush on her? Yeah, it's that in song form. It suits Robin's feelings perfectly and the melancholy in this song is BEAUTIFUL.
Paint It Black- (Hildegard von Blingin' cover)
...How many times is she gonna appear in this FST?! Anyway, I originally wanted to put in Dead Can Dance's live cover of 'I Am Stretched On Your Grave' here, but then I remembered THIS cover of Paint It Black. I could've used the original or The Tea Party cover, but I went with this one because of the melancholy is much more pronounced in the instruments than the others.
Stand My Ground- Within Temptation
How many genres can I put in this FST... Within Temptation! I love this song, I think I found this via an AMV...? But this is perfect with Robin challenging his fate as Grima's vessel. The drama, the instruments, oh how they fit this Robin so well! Not to mention the lyrics are so perfect for his situation.
