“Yep, it’s definitely winter over here,” Masaki announced as he adjusted his winter coat’s sleeves.
“Yes, everyone else seems to be dressed for the weather,” Christophe agreed. “Or was it something else that clued you in?”
“Oh yeah, you know it’s winter when we can get oden,” the youth replied as he pointed a thumb towards a nearby traditional stall. “And this particular yatai’s always been my favorite: Terada Oden.”
The older man looked over to the stall. He’s seen his fair share of yatai before- La Gias did had a rather large Japanese culture boom the era his mother arrived- but this was the first time seeing one specifically for oden. “Is that your recommendation for any tourists coming here?”
“I... guess?” Masaki shrugged. “Never had anyone ask for recommendation before.”
“Then we might as well go, then.”
“Masa-kun! Heavens, lad, it’s been a good while!” The owner beamed at the sight of seeing a familiar customer again. “You seem to be in good health.”
“I am, I am,” Masaki admitted as he sat down in front of the oden pot, Christophe next to him. “I even brought a friend along, this time.”
“Wonderful, it’s good to share food with friends!” The owner grabbed a nearby notebook. “I’d imagine you’d want hot chocolate for your drink?”
Masaki pursed his lips. “Yeah, why not. What ‘bout you, Shu? Wha’cha drinking?”
“Ah, just green tea will do fine…”
